The magazines and colored books you see and browse through each day? They are all produced using the four color process.

Once the process was that the artwork and originals were separated photographically using filters to produce four printing plates. Nowadays, these separations are prepared digitally. Convenient, eh?

CMYK is the preferred name for the four color process short for the four ink colors: Cyan (Blue), Magenta (Red),Yellow and Black. Isn’t it amazing that through the translucent inks of these four colors, they can be overprinted or combined into different proportions. And voila! They become a variety of different shades.

However, the four color process still has its limitations though it can produce enough range of colors adequate for most printing jobs. Those colors that are available as special inks have no close equivalent in four color process. And it is important to remember this bit of fact. It is even necessary in some cases that a fifth plate be printed in order to match the special ink colors. This is a particular case with regards to difficult company logo colors. This result to abnormally exorbitant additional costs charged by the commercial printer.

The four color process must always be taken into consideration with regards to commercial printing jobs. In order to avoid costly additions in the printing price, the specific colors during the design stage must be according to the four color process.

You can also have an elaborate effect – like printing six or more colors. Good news is that there are presses capable of printing eight different plates in a single run through the machine. -30-

Endless possibilities of quality posters printing

High quality posters printing makes it possible to unleash the power of posters in getting customer’s attention for products and services. It says that brochures are still just a piece of paper. A piece of paper with an outstanding design may take hold of the attention of viewers…But will it be able to get its message across as effectively?

During a brochure’s printing process, the printer and designer must also pay due importance to the contents to input in it.

Articulation is needed. A company’s message should be easy-to-read and must have strong sentence structure to capture enough attention that even those who just took a passing glace would be moved to read its contents thoroughly.

You can also try out a brochure with a headline that’s in a question form. You might just get the curiosity of customers enough to have them skimming the contents of the brochure more carefully.

What opening questions can be used? Try questions that focus on a common problem among your target sector or industry. Then, tie it up with the solution your company provides.

Take advantage of full color brochures printing so that your brochure will have an overall brand image intact. Apply color according to company corporate colors. Then, pay attention to having accurate typography. Irrelevance in a brochure’s contents may cause your customers attention to stray and ultimately lose their interest.

And don’t be too picture–crazy! Settle with minimal pictures that are relevant and effective enough and will jibe with its word contents. In brochure printing, don’t be too hard on your target audience and get your message right into them without too much unnecessary contents. Remember: simplicity is beauty.

What Do You Have in Store for 2005?

Getting new calendars for the year 2005?Check out the latest in full color printing technology tried out in calendar prints!

2005 is the Year of the Rooster according to the Chinese calendar commonly known as the Farmer’s calendar or the Hsia calendar. This system is both a method of tracking time and a tool for fortune-telling as well. The Hsia calendar format presents with it the traditional Chinese system of fortune telling known as the Four Pillars of destiny. The unique feature of such calendar is that all information about time - year, month, day and hour are presented in terms of the five basic elements - metal, water, wood, fire, and earth, which are believed to be the basic components of everything in the Universe.

Good and bad news are predicted to happen as the year is governed by two yin elements namely yin wood sitting on yin metal. Similar conflicts as what transpired in 2004 are predicted to happen although these will be of a lesser intensity since both elements in force are of the yin essence.

Bleak are many of the predictions for the year especially for people born under the year of the rabbit. Risks and difficulties are at a heightened state and this poses a great challenge. It would seem to be a somber year for everyone considering the many ugly forecasts we hear. Many would even look at this year as rotten. Well not for me.

“A danger foreseen – is a danger that can be avoided.” I like this line from the article. As I have always been fond of saying, arming ourselves with the right knowledge is tantamount to overcoming even the greatest of odds. Having the right information at our disposal will help us formulate actions to counter any obstacle that might come our way.

The article provides below guide to determine your sign:To find your animal sign, check the charts below. If you were born before February 4th (Spring Begins), use the year before. If it is after February 4th, then use the same birth year. This is worth double-checking; as you would be amazed how many people born in January or February get it wrong.

Some examples: · Born 3rd February 1958 = Rooster · Born 5th February 1958 = Dog · Born 3rd February 1987 = Tiger · Born 5th February 1987 = Rabbit

2005 is the 4702nd year of the Chinese calendar. The first day of the Hsia (solar) calendar starts on February 4th 2005 in China 01:44 whereas for readers who reside in Europe (GMT) the Yin wood Rooster year starts on February 3rd 2005 17:44

The 21st Century's Definition of Artistic Design

Creations of modern artistic designs exclusively made with the latest in full color printing technology!

Art is an expression of one’s ideas and emotions. It exemplifies a lot of things. It also comes in different forms. But nowadays, technological innovations have become a big part in the creation of artistic works. There are several software applications and programs today that can help you come up with your artistic masterpieces. These tools are made for a great purpose but in other’s context, they don’t really help graphic artists because they limit their creativity and artistic ideas. It’s not always good that almost everything is being fed in doing something.

The annual celebration of the Gala is quite remarkable. It’s one way of giving the opportunity for graphic art professionals to showcase their latest masterpieces. Aside from this, the annual Gala introduces the recent technological breakthroughs in graphic design. Truly impressive, right? It’s certainly a great avenue for graphic designer-wannabes to be exposed to such things and be inspired by the professional ones.

As one of the judges, Rick Altman’s evaluation of the different entries in the event only signifies that we view things differently. Others might find a certain work of art to be very appealing but some might not. Truly, we all have different tastes and especially when it comes to graphic designs, different ideas and concepts come from the creator’s mind. Sometimes, we find them really weird and ironic but their artworks are their means to express themselves. That’s what art means to them and we must appreciate it.

The sprout of many software applications and graphic design tools is inevitable especially now that we are living in an almost-totally computerized world. We should not think of them as something that impedes our creative spirits and imaginative minds. I agree with what Altman has said, “The tools can’t replace the vision; that has to come from within.” Definitely! It’s up to you if you want these tools to rule your creative art world.

With all these reality bites – it certainly can’t all just be art.

Instant Sketch Artist

Photoshop has been known for over a decade now – 14 years to be exact. Truly, it has become so significant especially in the world of graphic art, graphic design, web design, and photography. With its great capabilities, you can expect to have the best output that you really want.

I assume that the ones who inquired on how to turn a photo into a drawing in Photoshop already got precise answers from a professional. They can now apply those procedures in their photos and be truly satisfied with the result. However, I agree with the book’s author that they must also try to experiment with different settings in the blur phases, and make sure to try other textures and texture depths for a wide array of striking effects. They must also try other images like flowers for Mother's Day or Western scenes for Father's Day. Then, they can print this to a slightly textured paper and the colored pencil drawing is now ready for whatever purpose that it’ll be used. Talking about printing, it would be best to use the latest full color printing technology.

Mark Clarkson is truly impressive. It caters several products and services which help us cope with our everyday activities. Printing has become very important to all of us. Along with this, the competition of the different printing companies in this industry also continues to become stiff. They all strive to be the best among their competitors and stand out among the rest. Of course, it is an advantage that it is the latest when it comes to full color printing and certified good quality.

At present, printing companies constantly acquire the latest and most advanced printing presses and equipment to continue to satisfy the needs and expectations of their clients. Some of them include Alphagraphics in Atlanta, Georgia; Complete Printing Services and Perfect Image Printing in Marietta, Georgia; Copyco Solutions in Des Plaines, Illinois; Digital Printing Center in Chicago, Illinois; Entire Printing in Santa Clara, California; J & M Finishing in Long Island City, New York; Marketplace Direct, Inc. in McKees Rocks; Quantum Color Graphics, LLC in Chicago; Printograph, Inc. in Burbank, California; Shapco Printing in Minneapolis; Sir Speedy in Santa Monica, California; Specialty Printing in Niles, Illinois; and Winthrop Printing in Boston, Massachusetts.

With the recent move of these printing companies to acquire the latest printing technologies, there’s no doubt if their tough competition will go on. On their part, they have experienced and will continue to experience expansion in their client base, doubling of printing capacity, reduction in make-ready times, and increase in efficiency and productivity. With this, clients will be tested if they’ll still be availing the products and services of their current service provider or look for a better one. After all, the decision will only depend on a company’s unmatched service, maximum customer satisfaction, fast production time, and of course, the quality of the printed outputs.

We can observe a distinction from every printing company. Some of them focus on advancing computer technology. Others focus on providing a wide variety of possible medium. Some focus on cost effectiveness. Others focus on faster production times. Overall, the printing companies in the circulation today produce competitive and affordable forms of printing for the needs of their clients.

Standard vs Fine in Photography

The differences between Standard and Fine digital camera compression lies on your photo material needs. Digi-Prints in the UK is probably the cheapest online printing service. Bonusprint come second, Spectra Photo trail behind as they’ve doubled their prices in the last year and others are very expensive too or shut down. French prices are good, but Sterling is too much unfortunately. It should be clear, however, that cheap printing is not always best. You decide on the cheap printing bid, but it turns out to have problems. Chief among them is the fact that the digital printing service print shop does not have the right equipment for the job.Photo printing industries and printing presses take the hassle out of finding the perfect fit between a printer and your photo. Printing is simple. It’s easy. And, most important of all, it makes perfect sense if you know what to choose over another. If it is an ordinary job for the printing press it has to be standard printing. If the pictures are kind of blurry or the color is poor, it needs meticulous attention, it has to be a high resolution printing. It is best that you are updated with full color printing technology.

Shooting with greater compression, using Standard instead of Fine, has a similar effect on your storage requirements. As it turns out, Standard shots take up about 55% of the space occupied by Fine shots. Now your memory stick is 80% larger than you thought.Compression artifacts tend to echo into the adjacent areas near contrasty detail. Like frozen waves near beaches of sharp transitions, they follow contours and introduce false details into the image. Whether you’re a professional photographer or otherwise, it simply makes sense if you know the right approach to your photo printing needs. It combines communications technology, extensive printing industry experience, and well-designed Web site programming to make it as easy as possible for someone who needs photo printing services to identify and do business with qualified printers, whether they’re down the street or around the world.

Reference to trackback article .

Horizontal Scrolling with CSS

According to the article posted on December 18, 2004 at blog.photoblogs.org, someone was having a problem in attempting a full CS layout for his photoblog. He used to post multiple images and display them next to each other horizontally. However, when he was trying to rebuild, he found out that while

forced all the images to sit next to each other, hence created a horizontal scrollbar, CSS didn't quite do that. His images are now traditionally on top of each other when there are multiple images. Same thing with Internet Explorer, putting align="left" in your tag will solve the problem, but it still looks horrible in standards-compliant browsers like Firefox.

I have here two methods which can hopefully help you solve this problem. First, try to write a stand-alone HTML page which will become the scrollable list of options. Then, have your page where you need the user to select an option pop a smaller window with this page in it. Finally, script it so that when the user selects an option from the popup, that value is passed back to the parent page and the popup window is automatically closed.

The second option is for you to have DHTML menus. This can be text, a logo, clipart or anything at your choice. It will need to be on its own separate layer, whatever it is. Press "D" on your keyboard to reset the colors to their default values.

If you're putting your dropshadow on text, select the Type Tool and type your text. Make a new layer and drag it underneath the layer that contains your text/object. This is layer is the shadow. Hold down CTRL on your keyboard and click on the text/object layer, and it should load a selection around it. Choose Filters, Blur, Gaussian Blur and enter a value that gives you the blur you want. Change to the default (black foreground/white background) colors by clicking on the small black and white squares below and to the left of the foreground/background color swatches. Use ALT-Backspace to fill the text with black. Make sure that Preserve Transparency is off in the layer palette.

Now, go to Select-> Feather and choose a number and press OK. The higher the number, the more "soft" and spread out your dropshadow will be.

Now, depending on the direction your "light source" is coming from (top left, bottom right, etc) you need to move the Shadow layer several pixels up/down and several pixels right/left. You can sometimes make the illusion that the object is high above the background by using much higher numbers... and bear in mind that the numbers do not have to be identical (i.e. could be 4 and 7, etc).

If you have most likely noticed that the shadow looks a bit unrealistically dark, adjust the opacity of the Shadow layer.

There! You have created shadow in your graphics. It adds up elegance and modishness to any text, logo or clipart.

Post created by Full Color Custom Printing team.
